How the Even Bet Works
The even bet is a box in the outside section, marked Even or Pair, usually next to the 1-18 box.
Place the chip in that box. Any even number from 2 to 36 wins at 1 to 1.
Zero is an even number in arithmetic, but the table does not count it. Zero and 00 both lose the even bet.
When this bet makes sense
Even fits a player who wants steady, low-swing play without favoring any part of the layout. Every dozen and every column holds an equal share of even and odd numbers, so the bet does not lean toward one area. That makes it a clean base bet for a player who adds occasional inside bets on top. It also works well for learning how a bankroll moves over a long session, since each spin is a simple win or loss at 1 to 1.
Mistakes to avoid
- Assuming zero counts as even and expecting a win when it lands.
- Confusing the Even box with the phrase even money, which describes the 1 to 1 payout on red, black, even, odd, high, and low.
- Expecting even and odd results to balance out within one session, when short runs often lean one way.
