Roulette call bets

Call bets place several inside bets at once to cover a sector of a European roulette wheel.

Quick answer

The racetrack follows the physical order of the 37 pockets on a European wheel. Voisins, tiers, orphelins, and jeu zéro cover fixed sectors. A neighbours bet covers one selected number and the same number of pockets on either side.

Each chip remains an inside bet. The combined layout does not reduce the 2.70% house edge.

The racetrack follows the wheel

A racetrack is an oval map of the pockets in physical wheel order. It lets you cover adjacent wheel sectors instead of adjacent squares on the betting grid.

You cannot place a sector bet from the standard grid as one selection. The racetrack converts the selection into its straight, split, trio, and corner components. This is a European-wheel feature because its sectors use the single-zero wheel order.

Fixed call bets

Each table treats one chip as one unit. A component payout applies only when the winning pocket belongs to that component. The returned amount also includes the original chip.

Tiers du cylindre (Third of the wheel)

This 12-number sector spans about one-third of the wheel opposite voisins du zéro.

Neighbours bets

A neighbours bet starts with one wheel number and adds a chosen number of pockets on each side. For example, 17 with two neighbours covers five straight bets: the selected pocket, two pockets clockwise, and two pockets counterclockwise.

The size is not fixed. A bet with n neighbours on each side uses 2n + 1 straight chips. Each winning straight pays 35:1.

Expected value stays negative

Call bets consist of inside bets, so each staked unit has the European wheel's 2.70% house edge. Grouping the bets by wheel sector changes the result pattern, not the expected return.

A 9-unit voisins bet loses 9 / 37 of a unit on average per spin. That is about 0.243 units: 9 × 2.70% ≈ 0.243. The different trio, split, and corner payouts preserve the same expected loss across the full bet.

No call-bet system changes this expected value.

American wheels

American roulette has no standard racetrack or call bets. Its different pocket order and extra 00 pocket do not match the European sectors listed above.
